Crisis Averted

With the new Nightfall league fast approaching, and seeing a renewed number of players coming out of the woodwork in our area but still seeing no Menoth, last week I panicked a bit. I'm not sure why, but I felt responsible somehow because I was playing factions that a lot of other players were playing. So I posted that I was going to invest in some Menoth models.

Trouble is, I don't really feel like playing Menoth. Oh, I still feel model envy whenever I see new stuff coming out for them. And I'm sure I will still feel the same sort of fear I used to feel whenever I played against them, but they are a faction (like Khador) that I don't want to play.

So I was out of sorts last week. Conflicted. I actually placed an order for some Menoth models. Looked over the warcasters to figure out which one I would go with. Created a couple of 35 pt lists. Bought a 2010 deck for them.

Fortunately, I came to my senses! (nothing against all you fiery Menoth heads out there)

A couple of people in our group spoke up. "Hey, I've got some Menoth models. I can play!"

Needless to say, I cancelled my order. Whew! More money I can save for Gencon, right? But then I was listening to the Iron Agenda, episode 77 I believe it was, and one of them brought up the term "faction whore." Wow, is that what I am becoming? I love my boys in blue, but recently I've been picking up Retribution because I'm a big fan of the elves (I'm not even sure how many points of Eldar I have for 40K). And last year I picked up some Cryx which I have been painting. For Hordes (because I felt the need to have a Hordes faction) I began collecting Circle. Trust me when I tell you that every fiber of my being was screaming "not another faction!"

It's a big relief to know that I am not going to be playing Menoth. And I look forward to (really?) seeing them across the table from me. For now, at least, crisis averted.
